How to Extract an APK for an Android
All necessary files package into an APK file when an Android application is built by a developer. There is a way to extract the APK files from the device (rooted device) using Android SDK. This is the method commonly used by the developers to do things like reviewing code or adding to existing applications. You will be using the Android SDK to review the APK code because Android apps are coded in Java.
1- Take a USB cable. You will be using the USB cable to connect the rooted phone or tablet to your computer. The operating system will detect the device you connected and the temporary drive letter will be setup.
2- Open command prompt. Just click “Start” button and type “cmd” in the text field and hit the Enter button from the keyboard.
3- You need the location of the Android SDK installation for which you need to type “cd directory.” Once you have moved the prompt to the SDK directory, you need to type “sdk shell” in order to open the SDK shell command line.
4- Now you will type “su” and hit the “Enter” button from the keyboard. Type “cd data/app” and you should know that there “app” is the name of the APK app you want to extract.
5- In order to see a list of APK files on your TV screen, just type “ls” and hit the Enter button from the keyboard. Once you have found the name of the APK file, type the command given below in order to extract all the APK files
adb pull /data/app/app.apk new.apk
6- You know the name of the APK file mentioned in step 4. The very same apk file name will replace “app.apk” and the APK file you wish to save to the computer will replace “new.apk”.
